NAFO, one of the prominent socio-cultural organizations in Kuwait has always been in the forefront in helping the community members stay connected to their indian roots and also contributing towards the revival of the old dying art forms.As a part of the efforts to kindle interest in the younger generation and to do its bit in supporting the artists and various art forms, NAFO in collaboration with Lulu Exchange organised an evening dedicated to the traditional art of puppetry, “THOLPAVAKOOTH” commonly seen in the temples of Kerala.
The much acclaimed, Padmashree Sri Ramachandra Pulavar and his group mesmerised the audience in the online session that started at 6pm and went upto 8pm, it marked the culmination of a fortnight of preparations.
Ms Shivani Menon,the comperer for the event took the crowd through the program. The event commenced with the melodious rendition of the prayer by Master Nandakishor Girish and was followed by a message from the honorable Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Shri Sibi George.
The advisory board member, Shri Vijayakrishnan spoke about the origin, history,importance and relevance of the much revered art form “Tholpavakooth”.
Shri Ramachandra Pulavar, then enlightened the crowd on the different aspects of Tholpavakooth,and on how the art form and the artists have evolved with the changing times.
The artists treated the audience to the beautiful, mesmerising depiction of the “KambaRamayana”through Tholpavakooth. The event also included an interactive session where all the members of the audience were encouraged to clear their doubts and share their feedback about the event.
The vote of thanks by Mr Jayaraj Edathil marked the end of a beautiful evening.

കുവൈറ്റിലെ പ്രമുഖ സാംസ്കാരിക സംഘടനയായ നാഫോ കുവൈറ്റ്, ലുലു എക്സ്ചേഞ്ച് കമ്പനിയുമായി ചേർന്ന് കാലഹരണപെട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതും,നമ്മുടെ സാംസ്കാരിക തനിമ നിലനിർത്തുന്നതുമായ ക്ഷേത്ര കലകളെയും കലാകാരന്മാരെയും ആദരിയ്ക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച “തോൽപ്പാവക്കൂത്ത് ” ഈ കഴിഞ്ഞ ജൂൺ 25 ന് വൈകീട്ട് 6 മണിക്ക് , പ്രശസ്ത തോൽപ്പാവക്കൂത്ത് കലാകാരനും, പദ്മശ്രീ പുരസ്‌കാര ജേതാവുമായ ശ്രീ രാമചന്ദ്ര പുലവരും സംഘവും ചേർന്ന് ഓൺലൈൻ ആയി അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.
പ്രസ്തുത പരിപാടിയിൽ, നാഫോ കുടുംബങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ നാനാതുറകളിലുള്ള സഹൃദയരും പങ്കെടുത്തു. വൈകീട്ട് 6 നു ശ്രീ നന്ദകിഷോറിന്റെ ഈശ്വരപ്രാർത്ഥനയോടെ ഓൺലൈൻ ആയി ആരംഭിച്ച പരിപാടിയിൽ കുവൈറ്റിലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ അംബാസിഡർ ശ്രി. സിബി ജോർജ് അവർകൾ ആശംസകൾ നേർന്നു.
തുടർന്ന്, നാഫോ ഉപദേശക സമിതി അംഗം ശ്രി. വിജയകൃഷ്ണൻ അവർകൾ, തോൽപ്പാവക്കൂത്ത് എന്ന കലാരൂപത്തിന്റെ ഉത്പത്തിയും ചരിത്രവും വളരെ ലളിതവും എന്നാൽ വിശദവുമായി പ്രേക്ഷകർക്കായി പങ്കുവച്ചു. അതോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ, പദ്മശ്രീ.രാമചന്ദ്ര പുലവരെ ആദരിയ്ക്കുകയും, പരിപാടി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി ക്ഷണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
പരിപാടിയുടെ ആമുഖമായി പദ്മശ്രീ.രാമചന്ദ്ര പുലവർ തോൽപ്പാവക്കൂത്ത് എന്ന കലാരൂപത്തെ കുറിച്ചും അതിന്റെ കാലാകാലങ്ങളിൽ വന്നിട്ടുള്ള മാറ്റങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും ലഖുവായ പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. തുടർന്ന് അദ്ദേഹവും സംഘവും ‘ കമ്പരാമായണത്തെ” ആസ്പദമാക്കി അവതരിപ്പിച്ച തോൽപ്പാവക്കൂത്ത്, പ്രേക്ഷകർ ഒന്നടങ്കം ആസ്വദിച്ചു.
തുടർന്ന്, പ്രേക്ഷകരുമായി നടന്ന പരസ്പര ആശയവിനിമയ സംവാദത്തിൽ, എല്ലാ സംശയങ്ങൾക്കും , തിരശീലയ്ക്കു പിന്നിലെ വിളക്കുകൾക്കു മുന്നിൽ നിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം മറുപടി നൽകി.
പ്രേക്ഷക ശ്രദ്‌ധ പിടിച്ചു പറ്റിയ ഈ പരിപാടി, നാഫോ കുവൈറ്റിന്റെ മുന്നോട്ടുള്ള പ്രയാണത്തിന് വളരെയധികം പ്രചോദനം ആയി.ഇനിയും ഇതു പോലെ നിരവധി കലാരൂപങ്ങളെയും കലാകാരന്മാരെയും നമ്മുടെ മുൻപിൽ അവതരിപ്പിക്കാൻ നാഫോയ്ക്കു ഇത് ഒരു തുടക്കമാവട്ടെ .
കുമാരി ശിവാനി മേനോൻ അവതാരകയായ പരിപാടിയിൽ സംഘാടക സമിതി കൺവീനർ ശ്രി. ജയരാജ് നായർ ഇടത്തിൽ നന്ദി പ്രകാശിപ്പിച്ചു.
